Even if you’ve never heard the term ‘boom lift’ before, you’ve likely seen one in action. These valuable machines come in handy in a number of different scenarios, including on construction projects, farm work, logging sites, and a number of other utility jobs. To learn more about the many different uses and styles of boom lifts, and discover whether one of these handy pieces of machinery is right for you, take a look at our article below!

Use

There is a lot of variation among boom lift models, and it’s resulted in the machine having quite a few different names. Whether you call this piece of equipment a cherry picker or a basket crane doesn’t matter, each variation has the same purpose — to lift workers into difficult areas to help them complete their jobs.

Features

While all boom lifts have the same general purpose, features vary quite a bit from model to model. Boom lift platforms can come in a wide range of sizes, or even be swapped out with buckets or baskets to increase operator safety. The mechanism that lifts the platform can also vary between models, with the most common being articulated or telescoping. With an articulated arm, your boom lift will bend and straighten, while a telescopic version extends directly upward. This is great if you’re needing to reach a very high area, however, an articulated arm is often better for maneuvering from side to side.
